Renewing Your Kitchen

As the years go by, our once lovely kitchen cabinets become old, dusty, and well…ugly. And as much as we would love to remodel our entire kitchen and buy brand new kitchen cabinets, that would require thousands of dollars that we are probably not willing to spend. But we have good news for you:  with a new, fresh coat of paint, your old cabinets will be looking as good as new!

The idea behind this is that cabinets are very long-lasting but the paint, on the other hand, isn’t. But then we should focus on fixing what the real problem is instead of going and buying completely new stuff. Now you might think that will be expensive as well, since you are going to have to hire a professional painting contractor so that it actually turns out ok, but don’t worry, you can turn this into a fun do-it-yourself project and get an awesome price!

The first thing you want to do is clean your cabinets really well because if they are dirty and dusty the paint will easily peel off and you are not going to obtain the fresh, new cabinet look you’ve been dying for. Once they are clean, you want to get a prime-sealer since that will leave a smooth uniform surface. After you apply it, you simply need to start the painting job! It’s amazing how the only thing you need for your cabinets to look brand new is paint!

There is no doubt that painting your cabinets yourself can save you a lot of money but that is not the only reason why you should do it. If you buy cabinets in a retail store, the color options are very limited, basically several shades of brown. The most extravagant a cabinet color gets is some kind of cherry shade and maybe you want to spice things up and get something a little different! Whatever the reason, painting your cabinets yourself is a great option!
