Bathroom Remodel

A few years after moving into a lovely old house, my friend decided to redo the main bathroom. Although it had a lot of space, the bathroom looked cluttered and disorganized, due to the lack of storage options. There was only a stand-alone sink and a few small cubbies built into the wall, meaning that the family’s towels, toiletries, and cleaning supplies were shoved into plastic bins stacked on top of each other. My friend’s first mission was to find affordable, ready to assemble cabinets that would look great and hold all of her family’s bathroom essentials.

My friend ordered her cabinets from this neat website that promised solid wood doors, frames and shelves, soft-closing hinges, and stainless steel supports. I must admit, the cabinets lived up to our expectations when they arrived. The quality was amazing and they fit perfectly in their place, as my friend had submitted the bathroom’s measurements to the website. The only thing that surprised me was my friend’s color choice: black. Who wants a black bathroom? But she insisted that she had seen an elegant design on one of those home remodeling shows, and I would have to wait for the finished product before judging.

With the help of her husband and oldest daughter, my friend had her bathroom repainted and the new ready to assemble cabinets installed in a weekend. The following week, she invited me over to check out their handiwork. She was right: with the addition of new fluffy white towels, some fun artwork, and cute vintage lamps, the black and white bathroom was quite sophisticated. Best of all, she had been able to get rid of those ugly plastic bins. Now I am just a bit jealous that I hadn’t thought of the black and white bathroom design first!

The Height of Your Cabinets

A lot of pre-fabricated homes come with standard height kitchen cabinets which are often about 6 feet from the ground. Most people can easily raise their hand and bring down a cup, plate of mug from it without much trouble; however, there are people that would feel a lot more comfortable with lower cabinets. Imagine you are 5 feet in height and your arm is a foot long, that means you could barely reach the edge of the cabinet much less be able to open a window and let’s not even talk about being able to reach something from it.

Now imagine that you are a housewife thinking of placing ornaments or decorative plates above your
cabinet meaning you will give it a double purpose, the first would be storage of your kitchenware and the second would be some form of a shelf. Many people wouldn’t be able to reach as far as the top of the cabinet to place or replace ornaments there, which could be another reason why a lower cabinet could be useful.

There is an old saying that goes ‘’to each its own’’ meaning that we are all free to make decisions about interior decoration that reflect who we are and how we want our house to look. The question of how high should your cabinet be placed should satisfy you and those living in your house. What is important however is for you to keep a good perspective and a clear understanding of the implications of playing around with the placement and style of your cabinet. This is a choice that is by no means short or medium term, you will probably have the same cabinet for at least over half a decade which should encourage you to be wise about your decisions and take into account that if you’ve got kids who can’t reach, they will grow. If you are short and can’t reach, you can always place a stool under the cabinet (as exhausting as that sounds). The point is, be careful when making long term decisions of interior decoration.

Replacing Your Kitchen Cabinets

Just like with fashion, home design is considered by many as cyclical which is why people constantly make renovations and remodeling to their homes. Because of average durability, one of the rooms that doesn’t get constant upgrades is the kitchen. Kitchen appliances last on average over 5 years and furniture over a decade. Because of the importance of the kitchen ambiance, sometimes people upgrade and improve their kitchens even if the items don’t need replacements. One common example is the cabinet. Cabinets are one of the main features of a kitchen and its style, color and material contribute largely to the design concept. It must match cohesively with the color of the floor, the shape of the fridge, the style of the breakfast island and even smoke extractors. The most common materials for kitchen cabinets are plastic and wood which could probably help explain durability.

When you start to notice that your kitchen looks dull or unappealing, or if your cabinet shows
damage, changing it is a very nice way to go about a kitchen overhaul. It presents home owners with a great opportunity to rearrange specific items, throw away unnecessary pans or plates and install microwaves or glass shelves. Integrating materials like glass and wood is a very nice way to help your kitchen stand out and makes the task of looking for specific items far easier.

Cabinets are a considerable investment so try to have a mental picture of the end result or seek advice from interior decorators. Something that really helps if you can’t afford an advisor is to go online or browse decorating magazines for ideas. Nobody knows the specifics of your home as well as you do so you must put in the effort to make the right decision. Also, try to get your family involved since decorating can be a really fun collective activity.

Redesigning My Mom's Kitchen

When my mother turned 60, she had been living in her house for 20 years and hadn’t made many updates to the interior design. She had always kept the place clean and everything was in good shape, but it looked tired and boring, especially the kitchen. However, being a very practical woman, my mother didn’t see any sense in renovating when everything worked just fine. So one long weekend when my mother went to visit her sister, my brother and I decided to redesign the kitchen using pre-made cabinets.

Actually, we had planned the renovation for about a month. We plugged the measurements of my
mom’s kitchen (which we had taken in secret when she wasn’t at home) into this great website that creates an image of your room with the new cabinets so you can really see how the finished project will look. My mother’s previous cabinets had been so dark that the kitchen looked dreary, so this time we chose a lighter colored wood and picked up a cheery shade of yellow paint for the walls. We had the cabinets delivered to my brother’s house so that my mother wouldn’t suspect anything.

The pre-made cabinets were so easy to install that the three-day weekend was more than enough time to replace the cabinets and repaint the walls. In fact, taking out the old cabinets was more complicated than putting in the new ones! The wood was of a high quality, as promised by the website. We finished the entire project on Monday afternoon, and I could hardly sleep that night, waiting for my mom to come in on Tuesday morning. Her reaction was priceless – her jaw dropped and her eyes widened as she asked if she was in the right house! Even though there was nothing wrong with her old kitchen, my mother admitted that the remodeled version, with beautiful pre-made cabinets, was much better.

Taking Care of My Kitchen Cabinets

I installed my first kitchen cabinets a few years ago. I had recently gotten out of college and I had the adulthood jitters really bad in the sense that I wanted to get my independence by moving out of my parents’ place. I got an apartment with a great living room, bedroom and bathroom. However the dining room and kitchen didn’t look nearly as spotless so I spoke with the owner about this issue and he said that it was a fixed rent deal and that there was little he could do, (bummer). Having just graduated with great negotiating skills, I managed to convince him to deduct the cost of a new cabinet from my rent. I found a great selection of cabinets with all kinds of colors and beautiful finishes. The most common materials you will find are wood and a combination of plastic and wood. Both materials are very sensitive to moist so taking measures to protect their surfaces is pivotal to ensure durability and a healthy appearance.

What I used to do to protect my cabinets was to install a layer of protective film inside the cabinets
and on the drawers. I didn’t have a dishwasher back then and some days I felt a little lazy to dry my dishes completely so sometimes (perhaps unbeknownst to me) those dishes would go in with a little bit of water drops around them, but since the cabinets were protected, it would never absorb the moist!

I was also very careful about maintenance, I remember I used to polish the copper handles and wipe the cabinet doors with spot removers and a wypall. These are products you can find in the hygiene aisle of your local supermarket. Looking back, in hindsight, the apartment owner may have gotten the best part of the deal since I took care of that cabinet so well, but then again, I never heard a visitor come on over asking for a glass or plate and commenting, hey! Your cabinets smell funny!

Laundry Room Cabinets

Doing laundry used to be my most dreaded task of the week when we lived in an apartment. I had to lug everything to the laundromat and wait there for hours washing, drying, and folding my clothes. But now that we have a new house, my husband decided to build a laundry room in the wide hallway leading to our garage. At first we just put our new washer and dryer in the hallway. When we had saved a bit more money, my husband installed a wall with a doorway to separate the room from the rest of the house. His last step was to put in pre-made cabinets.

It’s necessary to have things like detergent, dryer sheets, stain remover, vinegar and an iron close at hand when you’re doing laundry. Until that point, we had been keeping those items in a basket next to the appliances, which wasn’t ideal. I wanted shelves or cabinets to complete our laundry room. My husband didn’t know a thing about cabinetry, so he ordered our pre-made cabinets online, using the measurements he took of the space above and around our machines. I chose a pleasant off-white color to match the machines and keep our laundry room looking fresh and clean. Within a few days, the affordable pre-made cabinets had arrived, and he put them together in a flash.

Our new laundry room is orderly and convenient. Getting the laundry done is not such a chore anymore - I just throw in a load and go about my business in the house. The pre-made cabinets are great for our laundry-related stuff, and also gave us extra storage space. We use the cabinets to hold miscellaneous household items such as cleaning supplies, tools, spare batteries, etcetera. I will certainly never complain about doing laundry again!

Art School Cabinets

Recently, my best friend retired from her office job and fulfilled her lifelong dream - opening her own art school. She has a Master’s degree in fine art and always wanted to work with art full time. Thanks to years of saving for her goal, she was able to rent a large space in a strip mall and remodel it to her business’s needs. All art teachers know that a studio needs three things: good lighting, adequate space, and appropriate storage options. My friend didn’t want to spend a fortune, so she used ready to assemble cabinets for her storage needs.

After sizing up the perimeter of her large room, my friend checked out cabinet options online. She found this amazing website that allows you to enter the measurements of your area and see a mock-up of the way your room will look after installing the cabinets. She ordered several cabinets, drawers and large closet style storage in a practical timeless oak shade. While she was waiting for her order, a plumber came to make sure that the piping was correct for a sink to be put in along with the cabinets, providing a convenient place for students to wash their hands and clean paintbrushes.  When the cabinets arrived, her husband and a few of his friends put them together and had them attached to the walls in no time. They then connected the sink in the spot the plumber had prepared. It fit perfectly into the pre-measured cabinets. A few days later, the school was open for business.

My friend’s art school is now thriving, due to the combination of her excellent teaching skills and the school’s professional appearance, including the ready to assemble cabinets. I’m so proud of my friend and I hope she will serve as an inspiration to others in the community who want to reach their goals.

Kitchen Cabinets for a Cause

Last year I started working with a non-profit organization that helps people rebuild their homes after natural disasters strike. My first project was with a house that was structurally sound, but the inside had been destroyed by flooding from a terrible hurricane. We started by completely gutting the interior, fixing the plumbing and electricity, and replacing the drywall. After painting, it was time to work on the individual rooms. I was part of the team assigned to the kitchen. We put in a basic linoleum floor and then began to tackle the ready to assemble kitchen cabinets.

As most of the homes in the affected area had the same layout, the organization needed lots of the same sized cabinets. So they had bulk-ordered the cabinets online, receiving a significant discount on the already reasonably-priced furniture. Despite their low price, the cabinets were made of good quality wood and looked great. The ready to assemble kitchen cabinets came with simple, clear instructions on how to put them together. Even the people on our team who had very little experience in construction had no trouble installing them. The cabinets fit perfectly in the kitchen, as the organization had sent the exact measurements to the online cabinet retailer.

Within a day, the kitchen looked almost as good as new, thanks to the ready to assemble cabinets and gently used fixtures and appliances. Of course, there was still lots to be done. After a few more weeks of hard work, the entire house was once again able to be lived in. The displaced family’s reaction upon seeing their remodeled home was priceless - the mother of the family was nearly in tears. I definitely encourage everyone, whether you have experience or not, to take part in a rewarding volunteer project such as this one.

Barker Door Cabinets

I have so many fond memories of visiting my aunt at her old country house growing up. However, the last time I went there was for a not-so-happy occasion. Her husband had recently passed away, and the house was too big for her to take care of alone, so I went to help her move. We gathered up her belongings and set out for her new, smaller home. Although this house was closer to the city, my aunt wanted to decorate it in her familiar rustic style. The place needed quite a bit of work, starting with the kitchen. It had these terrible plastic laminated cabinets which were peeling. I offered to look online to find some barker door cabinets to replace them.

Well, my dear aunt nearly had a heart attack when she heard my suggestion! You see, her late husband was an amazing woodworker, and he had handmade almost all of the furniture, doors and cabinets in their old house. Justifiably, my aunt was highly skeptical that cabinets ordered online could live up to the quality she had grown accustomed to. But I had seen these type of barker door cabinets in friends’ houses and thought they looked good. My aunt agreed to give them a try.

After reviewing all the options, my aunt settled on a color and we chose cabinet sizes that fit her cozy kitchen. Although the barker door cabinets arrived ready-to-assemble, my aunt is elderly and I’m pretty uncoordinated, so we enlisted my aunt’s college-aged grandsons to put the cabinets in. The whole process only took one day’s work. Afterwards, my aunt ordered pizza for all of us and we sat around admiring the renovated kitchen. For someone who was so used to fine woodwork, my aunt was surprisingly impressed with the material and look of her new barker door cabinets.

Cabinets for Your Home Bar

A few years ago my uncle got a huge bonus from his job and decided to put all the money into home improvements. His main project was finishing his basement, which was quite large. He and my aunt wanted to put in a guest bedroom, a bathroom, and most importantly for him - a bar. My uncle loved to have his friends over to play poker or watch football, but my aunt wasn’t too happy about the noise and mess they made. He hired a contractor to do the majority of the remodeling. When it came time to do the painting and build the bar, my uncle’s buddy came to help him. Neither of them were skilled in carpentry, so they decided to use RTA cabinets.

RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets may sound daunting, but they were in fact, as my uncle put it, ¨a piece of cake.¨ He was able to choose the layout, style and color of the cabinets, and even see the virtual blueprint using the manufacturer’s website. The cabinets came quickly after placing the order online and included clear instructions for assembly. My uncle and his buddy got a six-pack of their favorite beer and put them together in one day.

After they got some furniture and hung up their wall art, my aunt and uncle’s new finished basement looked great. The bar is definitely the centerpiece of the room, and appear so well made that no one can tell that my uncle used RTA cabinets. My uncle and his friends hang out down there at least twice a week. The room was supposed to be something of a ¨man cave,¨ but it is actually so nice that my aunt even invites her friends over for a girl´s night every once in a while!

New Appliances and RTA Kitchen Cabinets

After 15 years or more in the same house, your kitchen starts to seems a little dingy and dated. Depending on how often you use them, your appliances will begin to break down around the same time. Most people look into updating their fridge first, as it is the biggest appliance. But once you have a new, stainless steel refrigerator, your stove and dishwasher start to look even worse, so you have to purchase new ones. Yet something still doesn't feel quite right - it’s those cabinets. Years of cooking oil splatters, smoke, and constant opening and closing can leave them cracked, stained, and generally worn. You'll need to replace them without breaking the bank. Instead of hiring somebody, get down to work yourself with RTA kitchen cabinets.

The process is simple. First, dig out your measuring tape and find out the size of all your appliances and cabinets. If you want to put in a slightly bigger refrigerator, for example, you will have to subtract a few inches from your cabinet space. Next, jump online and put your kitchen’s measurements into the cabinet website’s program. It will suggest the ideal cabinets for your space. Finally, you are able to choose the finish and color of your new cabinets.

The day your RTA kitchen cabinets arrive, call up a couple of friends to help you assemble them. If you can follow simple instructions, you should have no problem putting the pieces together. Within a few hours, your new cabinets will be installed.  I bet you will be pleased by how well the updated cabinets compliment your shiny appliances. When guests come over, they will certainly ask who remodeled your kitchen. It will be up to you whether or not to share the secret of your RTA kitchen cabinets!

Updating Your Bathroom with New Cabinets

My friend and her husband had just moved into an old farmhouse. Let me stress: this place was a real fixer-upper. One of the first things she wanted to update was the bathroom on the second floor. It was pretty small and didn’t even connect to the master bedroom. However, there was a fairly large closet that she wasn’t going to use right next to the bathroom. She and her husband completely gutted the bathroom and knocked down the wall that was shared with the closet, nearly tripling the size of the bathroom. Now they had to start redesigning the bathroom from scratch. They reworked the plumbing, put in drywall, and bought new bathroom fixtures. Their next step was to look into pre-made cabinets.

The new homeowners now had the space to install his and her sinks, with plenty of cabinet space underneath. Using blueprints from an online supplier, my friend was able to find a plan from the website that matched the measurements of her bathroom. The supplier suggested the type and size of cabinets and drawers that fit with my friend’s vision. She also chose an off-white hue from a variety of colors that were available on the site. In a few days, the pre-made cabinets arrived, and my friend’s husband put them in in a matter of hours. After some tile work and painting, the bathroom appeared to have been pulled from an interior design magazine.

My friend was so impressed with the professional look of the pre-made cabinets that she decided to use them again when it came time to redo the kitchen. Now they have a beautiful home. The improvements that the couple have made to their old farmhouse over the years have increased the property’s value tenfold. The best part was that they did most of it themselves.

Designing Your Kitchen Made Easy

Designing your new kitchen does not have to be a pain in the neck. In fact, you can do it from the comfort of your living room sofa. If you are the “do-it-yourself” type of person who searches for online tutorials here and there instead of going somewhere physical to get what you want, I think you would really enjoy our process for designing your own kitchen. What does the kitchen mainly comprises of? Cabinets. And here, we make it easy for you to get custom cabinets online while still enjoying the part of installing it yourself. Yes, our cabinets are ready to assemble and we deliver them straight to your door.

In case you are reading this in a place where you cannot listen to our video tutorial, let me explain to you the
basics of ordering your new cabinets online. We first need to know the measurements of your kitchen. You can browse through our sample pictures of kitchen cabinets and find the one that looks most like yours (in the case of remodeling). If you are building a brand new kitchen, then we still need the measurements and you can choose a design from our samples, or draw a sketch of the design you are thinking of and upload it to our page.

Then, we need to know more details of the style you are looking forward. You may also choose one or more styles from our gallery of pictures online so that your designer has a better idea of what you are looking for. After all, the point of this process is to create custom cabinets online that fit your need and imagination. The last step is to indicate which type of appliance (such as ovens, microwaves, fans, etc.) will be installed in your kitchen so that the space for them is accounted for during the designing of your kitchen cabinets. After you submit this, a designer will contact you shortly about your project, and if you’d like, we can even send you a free sample. I hope you enjoy your new kitchen!

The New Cabinets at my Doctor's Office

The other day I went to visit my doctor for the first time in about a year. After about 20 minutes in the waiting room, I entered the examination room and did a double-take. Was this the same place I had visited in the past? The room looked so fresh and modern. My doctor caught me looking around and said, ¨Yes, we remodeled. And yes, I did most of it myself.¨ I knew my doctor was a down-to-earth guy, but I never imagined him doing construction on his own office. The doctor said that it had been easy, mostly due to the RTA cabinets he had ordered online.

Gone were the old, dingy standard medical cabinets. The doctor had replaced them with RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets made of a beautiful beach wood. He said that the website he used allowed him to choose the material, color, size and specification of the cabinets. When they arrived, he followed the simple installation instructions. He also added a new countertop and stainless steel sink. The walls had been painted a soothing cream color, and a beautiful nature painting adorned them. The lighting fixture had been updated and now emitted a soft yellow light, instead of the standard cold fluorescent glare. The exam room was now much more pleasant. When my appointment was over, I joked with my doctor that I almost didn’t want to leave!

With his new RTA cabinets, the doctor had all of his supplies easily within reach. The relaxing office environment made me feel like my appointment was a breeze! I was so impressed with the doctor’s new office (and his medical attention) that I recommended him to several of my friends. I guess it was a great idea to remodel - it got him some more patients!

Pre-made Cabinets

My company leaders came up with a new charity program this year for the first time as part of our corporate responsibility. The project involves building homes for needy families in impoverished areas of different California counties. These homes are cozy two-bedroom homes which are 100% paid for by our company. Employees are welcomed to volunteer and join teams in charge of separate functions. I joined the kitchen team and our responsibility was to build the kitchen. I looked for pre made cabinets as they are easy to install and we began our kitchen project two weeks ago. The whole project lasts up to three months with people volunteering about 5 hours per week.

I have never done any type of community service in my life and this experience has been very rewarding for me. We received pictures of the family we are building the home for and we are going to meet them in person once the house is built. Their faces do not look all that happy on the pictures and I just hope that it changes once they see their new home. These people have gone through tough economic times, many of them single parent families where one of the parents used to be the bread-winner until they suffered some physical disability or died. We also build homes for families of war veterans who after they come back home are faced with things like disabled veterans or PTSD problems.

This week we finalized the installment of the pre made cabinets, the microwave, and the floor tiles and we also brought in the fridge and oven. At the end of each week all employees and some construction contractors get together for a potluck and celebrate our progress. See what our kitchen looks like so far!

New Kitchen Island

Growing up, I always remember my mother watching cooking shows and talking about how much she wanted an island in her kitchen. Unfortunately the house we had at the time was too small for such a thing. So when my mom inherited money from her late uncle and moved into a larger house with a sizeable kitchen, she decided to put in an island. Her friend, who is a contractor, did all of the work for her, including installing ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinets.

My mother wanted the island for counter and storage space. She wasn’t interested in adding another sink, as many people do with their kitchen islands. Without complicated plumbing, the job was simple. First, the contractor had to measure the space and find cabinets that matched the color of the existing ones. He used this great website which lets you put in your measurements and suggests the best cabinets for you. My mom was able to see a layout of the new kitchen before it was even started.

They ordered the ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinets and drawers online, and within a few days, they had arrived. The contractor installed them in a flash. The dark wood was high quality and went perfectly with the rest of the kitchen. Finally, he attached the custom-cut marble countertop. After waiting years, my mom’s dream kitchen was realized in just a week. Now, my mother has much more space to keep her cooking utensils and to prepare her delicious meals. The kitchen island even has become a gathering spot when she has guests over. She puts chips, veggie, and other snacks out and everyone stands around the island, lending her a hand by chopping, mixing and grating. The dinner is ready more quickly and both my mother and her guests have a great time!

RTA Kitchen Cabinets

My husband and I are doing some remodeling on our kitchen. We are both great cooks and many times we are working together, bumping into each and other and fighting for space. It is difficult sometimes to even find things in the kitchen because everything is so crowded. We have been thinking for a while to get into a catering business and in order to do that we need to expand the kitchen area and get new, bigger kitchen cabinets so our kitchen equipment is more spread out. I thought I wanted to start our business soon since one couple wants to hire us for their wedding soon and thus I decided to get ready to assemble kitchen cabinets for faster set up.

My husband also suggested that we get a kitchen island so that we are not fighting for space so often. We
definitely need a space for things that need to be laid out such as cannelloni or breads or for other things that need to sit for a while.  We have not bought it yet but we are also getting a lamp to go over the kitchen island. The lamp will give it great lighting and it will be perfect for taking pictures of desserts or other food items we make and upload them onto our business website.

Last but not least, we are buying a whole new kitchen stove and oven. The one we have is about 10 years old and has been used for cooking for more than your average time! (We love to have parties and have many people over often). The ready to assemble kitchen cabinets leave just the right amount of space for the new oven. It all came out so well it all looks as if we had hire someone design our new kitchen area.

Country Kitchen Design

With all the pressures of work, kids and everyday life, my husband and I recently realized that we needed a sanctuary to escape to every so often. We got together with my brother and sister and decided to collectively buy a mountain cottage to use as a vacation home. The place we got was a great deal, but also a real fixer-upper. In particular, the kitchen needed tons of work. The old cabinets must have been there for 50 years! My husband took matters into his own hands and replaced them quite easily using pre-made cabinets.

I really liked the design of the previous kitchen, which had tons of wood paneling and dark brick work, matching the rustic location of the house. However, the years had not been kind to the beaten up and deteriorated wood, and the appliances were straight out of the 1970s. My husband and brother took a few weeks and completely redid the kitchen. First, they covered the old brick with stone tile. Next, they ordered pre-made cabinets online and installed them in a flash. Luckily, the original marble countertop was in good condition and matched the new cabinets. Using accumulated points from our credit card, they were able to purchase a stainless steel sink, stove and refrigerator, adding a modern touch to the rustic kitchen.

My husband wouldn’t let my sister and I into the house until their handiwork had been completed. When we finally saw the kitchen for the first time, we were delighted with the results. The room was fresh and new, but also maintained its vintage country feel, thanks to the classic pre-made cabinets. As we cooked our first family meal in the updated kitchen, we reveled in its convenience and comfort. Here’s looking forward to a lifetime of great family getaways in our renovated mountain home!

The Neat Cabinet

I have always put a lot of emphasis on being neat in everything related to my work ethic, my work in school and my attitude towards home cleaning and keeping it organized. I implemented the latter as soon as I had a kitchen cabinet made; I made the specific request of having a spacious and compartmentalized cabinet in which I could store glasses, mugs, plates and a special spot for my special china. I only used that china (that had been passed on to me from 2 generations ago since the days of my grandmother).I like to entertain a lot so this was a rather frequent event, luckily my china had suffered very little damage or ‘’reductions’’ over the years.  I think my friends and relatives know how fond I am of them and therefore they tend to be a little extra careful whenever we use it.

My cabinet was beautiful; I had it custom-made with a kitchen remodeling firm. They designed it wooden with beautiful decorative bronze handles. I absolutely adored the way it meshed with the rest of the kitchen layout. If you don’t have a husband who knows the ins and outs to carpentry, you don’t have to worry since there are many cabinet makers and kitchen designers all around the country that can help with your remodeling needs. I was particularly happy with mine since they really had great follow-through and were attentive to details. This is pivotal whenever you are decorating because it’s very difficult to go back unless of course you’re willing to bring back the progress and pay of the associated costs of remaking  (which of course are basically ‘’sunk’’).

Decorating is not for everyone, but anybody can do it. And once you try it for the first time, you really gain some insight about what’s involved with it and how much better the end result can make you feel. That’s at least what has happened with me and to all my friends and relatives that I have encouraged to take on the habit, I hope you join us.

Jason Going to College Project!

My godson Jason is going to college next semester. I can’t believe I am the godmother of a college student! My brother and his wife are very wealthy and not only are they paying for Jason’s college tuition but they are getting him a condo! The college he is going to is only the next city over, but my brother William wants to get him out of the house that badly! Of course, they are not getting him a brand new condo, but an old one, and thus we get into house remodeling once more. Jason’s new kitchen is very spacious, and even though he doesn’t know how to cook well, he’ll want to learn once we help him fix up his house. And to start that task, we have started looking for pre-made cabinets.

Jason’s cabinets are cracked, the wood has swollen, and they are overall in pretty bad shape from apparent infrequent maintenance by their old owners. We started looking for cabinets online and have found very beautiful sets of cabinets. I know fixing Jason’s new home isn’t my job but I love home remodeling so much I have voluntarily signed up to help him. I have suggested to Jason already that he should get dark colored wood cabinets similar to the cabinets at his parents’ house so he can the illusion that he has not left home. This may be silly, be either way I think this type of cabinets is the most elegant looking (check out the picture
on the right)

If you want some ideas on how you can remodel your kitchen, just send me a message! I have done it so many times. I have owned two homes so far, and a few times I have helped other friends or family members with their remodeling ideas. And if you want one advice for the kitchen, get the pre-made cabinets, they are so much easier to install!

The Home Sweet Home Bakery

My older cousin Martha and I have always dreamt of working together to put up a bakery business. She had already been doing something on her own sporadically in the past few years but she has only sold to her close friends or colleagues. She is also the one who makes the cakes and other goodies in every family party. This year we wanted to combine her baking skills with my knowledge of healthy alternatives and create a bigger business that also offers things such as eggless or gluten-free baked goods for those following a healthier path. But we could not make a bigger business without having a bigger kitchen! So it was time to remodel our workspace, her lovely but crowded kitchen with the deteriorating cabinets. So, we looked up custom cabinets online and thus the fun began!

Oh how easy this was! We only had to take some short steps. First, we needed to measure our kitchen cabinets online, and then specify which type of appliances we were going to keep in the kitchen. My favorite part was adding the island in the middle of kitchen space. Before joining forces, Martha didn’t have that many orders to complete and so the space that was available was enough back then. But times were about to change. Not only were we going to have a more diversified menu of baked goods but our orders were about to increase once we launched our brand new Home Sweet Home Bakery Web page!
dimensions and upload a sketch. Second we had to choose a style from the various

Since the opening of our “small big business” we have had much more success than expected. We are even
considering hiring more help and remodeling my kitchen cabinets as well. As much as we love our business, we also love our family time and extracurricular activities. Take a look at Martha’s kitchen after it was remodeled. Isn’t it beautiful?! I hope you can also make your dreams come true!

New White Cabinets

My mother is among one of the many people who love the spotless bright look of an all-white kitchen.  When I was a child, we moved into the house she has now, where she decorated with white walls, tiles and cabinets.  She was in heaven.  Fast-forward to 25 years later.  My mother is trying to sell the house, as it is now too big for her.  There’s just one problem.  Years of cooking and smoking in the kitchen have yellowed her cabinets.  She doesn’t want to spend a lot of money, but she knows she has to replace the cabinets before showing the house.  When she asked me for advice, my suggestion was ready to assemble cabinets.

Easily found and reasonable priced online, ready to assemble cabinets are the solution for anyone looking
to refresh their kitchen or bathroom economically.  It’s understandable to be wary about ordering home improvement items online, but there are virtual design tools that can help you clarify which style, size and color would work for your house.

Although my mother is in her 60s, she is pretty active.  I’m sure that, with a little help, she can install these cabinets.  In a few days, her cabinets will match the rest of her pristine kitchen and she will be able to put her house on the market.  I can just imagine the prospective buyers pining after the large and open house.

Ready to assemble cabinets are quite easy to keep clean.  Many methods – including those using natural products such as lemon, baking soda, and vinegar – can be found, depending on the material of your cabinets.   Of course, my mother will have to set a new rule for herself: no smoking in the kitchen.  Maybe her new cabinets will finally persuade her to give up that bad habit.

Refacing Your Cabinets

The kitchen is probably the most popular room in the house and most homeowners do frequent kitchen remodeling projects. The most expensive part of the kitchen consists of the cabinets. Buying brand new cabinets for your entire kitchen would cost several thousand dollars. That seems like a very large amount, especially when your cabinets are not broken or in poor conditions but rather you are just trying to get a new look or maybe want to try out a different color.  Luckily, there is one thing you can do to update and upgrade your cabinets without emptying your bank account!

A popular option among homeowners that want to save money is refacing cabinets. For those of you who
haven’t heard of that concept, refacing means covering your current cabinets with a thin veneer and thus replace the doors and drawer faces. This way you can completely change the looks of your cabinets without having to replace them and get new ones!

I think refacing your cabinets is an awesome option and alternative to buying new ones. This type of project is not as complicated as you might think and you will be done in just a couple of days. That means that in just a few days you can completely transform your kitchen and give it a new look and the best part is that you will be saving a lot of money! So I recommend everyone who is just trying to give their kitchen a new look to reface their cabinets instead of replacing them!

Lovely Bathroom Cabinets

About a month ago I decided to take a vacation with my lovely husband. It was a romantic getaway from all the stress that work and taking care of the children bring to our lives, not that I am complaining. We were kind of on a budget so we decided to stay in a small country hotel. The hotel overall was alright but what truly caught my attention was the fabulous, cozy, little bathroom! I had to take a picture! Don’t you just love
it?!

When I first walked into the room I was not surprised. It was just okay, nothing over the top. But for some reason I found this bathroom truly great. I really loved the wood. It was a perfect, all wood room! I enjoyed having so many cabinets because there was space for all my stuff and the bathroom wouldn’t look messy like mine usually does.

I think bathroom cabinets are a must if you want to keep things organized in the bathroom and avoid clutter at all cost. Women need a lot of space in the bathroom because we apply so many products so I thought having all these cabinets was wonderful. And I just love how everything is made out of this rustic looking wood! I think I should remodel my bathroom in the near future and I will definitely keep this bathroom in mind as a guide for how mine should look like. There is no doubt I must acquire cabinets like these ones!

The Layout of My Kitchen

I have always been a huge fan of kitchens and I love remodeling my kitchen. In fact, the kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I am very passionate about cooking and therefore spend a long time there every day. In addition, I always like giving my guests a good impression and want my house to be nice and welcoming to anyone who comes over. Guests always go into the kitchen so it is important to keep that space updated and follow the latest kitchen trends.

Usually, when I do a kitchen remodeling I just update the cabinets because I think they are the core of the kitchen and the essence of the room. However, the last time I decided to remodel, I wanted to change the layout of the kitchen because I think the layout is always kind of the same from house to house. I wanted to be different, I wanted my kitchen to be different.

I feel like rooms are always kind of straight so I wanted to break that norm. So I went from very chic to ready to assemble - online cabinets store.
more country-like. At first I wasn’t too convinced but I ended up loving it! I just love how my island is not boring and straight but has kind of like a U-shape and it really makes my kitchen unique! Out of all the kitchen remodeling projects I have done, I think this one is my favorite because it’s also the one that has turned my kitchen into something truly different. I couldn’t be any happier with the results. Oh and if you are interested in knowing where I bought my kitchen cabinets and the island, it was in a

Antique vs Modern Kitchen Cabinets

Design concepts are extremely important. They are the equivalent of an architecture design for a brand new building; it gives a north to the compass which you will follow in order to get the expected result. That is why it was very important for me to have the best concept in mind when I decided my kitchen needed an upgrade. I think that one of the factors of a good concept is what kind of material you will be using and if you don’t want to build you can always purchase second hand ornaments or cabinets and so forth. When the time came to make my decision, I was much divided between modern cabinets (those fancy metal-wooden and marble ones) you usually see on housing fairs.

I was raised in a cottage-type home growing up so there were a lot of antique cabinets there. I loved their washed, worn and tired look so I think I gravitated more towards that option. Next was of course painting! I loved white, gray and brown colors. Anything that seems neutral or borderline earthy I can really get used to. Combine that to my antique selection and you have a very distinguished and elegant result. Finally, I had to decide what kind of faucets I wanted and if I was going to go with a dish washer or not, I decided against it (it was tradition in my family to do dishes after a big family meal). My kitchen looked absolutely incredible after I was done especially because of my antique cabinets.

It all started with the concept and I was able to finish my own kitchen remodeling project in record time. A sales clerk at RTA Kitchen Cabinets I received very important assistance throughout the project and their customer service representatives or sales clerks were incredible in helping me choose not the most expensive option but the one that best fit the description I provided and the search criteria I had outlined. Needless to say I was very, very impressed with them and could certainly recommend kitchen remodeling ‘’on the budget’’ to anyone with the help of RTA.

The Beauty of Online Shopping

I have always been kind of a shopaholic but mostly of clothes, just like any other girl. I remember many years ago when my friends started buying clothes online I thought it was crazy because it was easier to just go to the store and try on clothes to make sure they fit. As the years went by, online shopping started growing on me, and not just for clothes but also for buying custom cabinets online!

As I started buying online more and more, going to the stores started to feel weird and I was just lazy to do it. I hate driving and can’t stand being stuck in traffic jam. That’s one of the many benefits that online shopping brings to my life. I have also found that many times you get better deals online because you can easily select items that are on sale whereas in the store, you would have to look for them. So buying online really saves you a lot of time, and money!

A couple months ago I was looking to remodel my kitchen. My kitchen is something I take very seriously and try to keep as neat as possible at all times. I wanted to get new kitchen cabinets but I just couldn’t find the perfect ones. I went into a couple stores and only found myself spending an entire afternoon without any luck! Nothing seemed to be good enough for my precious kitchen. Either the quality of the wood wasn’t good enough, or the quality was good but I couldn’t find the right colors.

So I gave up and decided to check out some ready to assemble cabinets online. Jackpot! I found exactly
what I was looking for, perfect quality, amazing colors, and a great variety. I got to choose the measures I wanted to, hit check out and in a few weeks I had my new kitchen cabinets delivered to my door!

Remodeling My Mom's Kitchen

You know how sometimes we tend to undermine our parents as they get older? We forget about all the things they did for us when we were growing up and all they gave up to raise us and give us a better life. Sometimes we complain about visiting them because their home is old and kind of neglected. I felt like this about my mom’s kitchen. Last time I visited I thought it was a real mess. There were so many things all crammed into a few kitchen cabinets.

Truth be said, I think my mother hadn’t remodeled the kitchen in quite a few years. My dad doesn’t even get into the kitchen, so I wouldn’t expect him to do it either. My first reaction was to judge because I am a very neat person and I like to keep my kitchen organized given that I spend a lot of time there cooking for my loved ones. But then I realized that my parents weren’t exactly young and they didn’t have as much energy to start a remodeling project.

In addition, I think that once you’ve had a house for several years (and I don’t mean 10 years, I’m talking
more like 30) you kind of stop caring about the physical aspect of your home and only fix things that need to be fixed. Anyway, I started talking to mom and dad and suggested they should remodel their kitchen. They said they didn’t like the idea of going shopping for new cabinets because it took too long and they had to deal with inefficient customer service representatives and all that.

Being the modern person that I am, I explained to them that now they don’t have to go out to get new ready to assemble kitchen cabinets from any online shop. The three of us started looking at online shops and we decided to go with CabinetDIY. The prices were awesome, we got a few cabinets and in a couple of weeks they arrived. My husband and I helped install the cabinets and my parents’ kitchen looked as good as new!

Treatment for kitchen cabinets

Kitchen cabinets can be made out of many materials. They can range from plastic, to plywood, wood and steel. This varies depending on the taste of the occupant of the property. Each and one of these materials have cabinet protection rules which promote material longevity and aid the wear and tear that your kitchen cabinets would suffer if no precautions or general maintenance steps are undertaken.

If your cabinet is made out of wood, a good step to take would be to not let it get wet. This could happen if there are leaks on the roof or more commonly if you wash your dishes and put them in the cabinets without letting them fully dry up. If it’s made out of plastic perhaps the best way to protect them is by not slamming the doors shut which could of course break them. If we are talking about steel, one of the things you could do is to be careful with the things you store in them. What I mean is, you should not put items with sharp edges on them or otherwise this could affect the surface (it would not break it or make it less functional but it would undoubtedly look bad because of the amount of scratches).

If it’s made out of plywood, I would suggest similar precautions be taken like the ones I recommended for wooden cabinets. Bear in mind plywood is fragile, so you should not slam the doors shut or treat the cabinet ‘’aggressively’’. These general, common-sense recommendations of care for your cabinets would ensure a longer life for them while looking absolutely sharp and thus exponentially enhancing the aesthetic appearance of your kitchen. Try to apply furniture shine or disinfectant from time to time, basically a substance that would clean your cabinet and keep it nice and glossy.
You also subconsciously will benefit from a clean and properly used kitchen. Some housewives or ‘’house-husbands’’ complain that they don’t enjoy cooking or even being around a kitchen because it may look dirty or old. My recommendations undoubtedly would help in that regard.

The most important room in the house

I lived with my parents for the better part of the first 3 decades of my life. I remember an infinite amount of mornings in which we shared breakfast in our marble island and talked about what each of us was up to; dad with his job, mom with her decorations and baking recipes and then my brothers and I talking about our friends or school projects. That kitchen made me feel I was at home. That’s why now that I’m married and have children of my own, I focus a lot on having my kitchen looking absolutely beautiful with gorgeous cabinets, faucets, drawers and of course, the marble island.

I remember the cabinets in my parent’s house were made of wood and they decided to paint them in white. I personally decided to go with a more traditional wooden-tone color for mine. I keep my china there, my husband’s collection of shot glasses (they are there despite my best judgment) he says they remind him of a more carefree era.

My children and husband love the kitchen; we spend more time there than in any other room whenever we are together. I think my favorite times above all in that kitchen come around by the end of the year when Thanksgiving, New Years, Christmas and the Super Bowl seem to mesh in an endless string of holidays and days off. I cook so much during those days, but I see them smile so much and be happy it makes it worth it all. When my husband and I moved into our new home, it came with a standard kitchen so I had interiordecorators come in and work together with me on a new design concept for the kitchen and the master bedroom. First thing I changed were the kitchen cabinets and then the bathroom curtains for glass doors. Whenever I have some time off I go on Pinterest or Tumblr for new ideas of recipes or design concepts, I’m always on the move!

Modern Kitchen Cabinets

All women dream of the perfect house, but more than that, they dream of the perfect kitchen. And women have a reason for that: they spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking for the entire family so the least they deserve is that the place where they spend so much time doing part of the chores of the home is somewhere they feel great in, and a place that looks fabulous!

Sometimes a home can have a lovely kitchen but in general I think most kitchens just look the same. Of
course, some of them have more elegant elements or newer cabinets than others, but generally speaking they are all similar. The kitchen is not a room that can vary highly; after all, you’ve got the kitchen, the oven, the sink, and the cabinets; there isn’t much to add there. But believe it or not, some kitchens can look very unique and like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

One of the things I have noticed is that kitchens tend to have the same colors. For instance, cabinet colors don’t tend to vary so much and that also contributes to the fact that all kitchens look the same. The moment I saw this picture with the violet kitchen cabinets I just wanted it for my own home so bad! And it also made me realize that paint can be a very powerful tool!

Painting your kitchen cabinets in bold colors like violet or red can have a big impact on the looks of your kitchen! It’s very extravagant and you might be afraid of trying it out, but at least in the pictures it looks amazing! The two kitchens look very modern and it’s all thanks to the awesome paint! But imagine the cabinets were painted in a more traditional color like maple, the kitchen wouldn’t be as fabulous. This goes to show that a little paint can make a huge difference.

Differentiate Your Kitchen

Kitchens tend to be quite similar from one another. There aren´t as many variations in kitchen as there are kitchen cabinets, options are kind of limited. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; after all, it would be kind of weird to have a kitchen with a bunch of colorful cabinets. The most common colors for cabinets are brown, maple, or cherry. However, there are some pretty good ideas to make your cabinets stand out from the crowd.
with other rooms and spaces in a house. When it comes to

After going through a whole bunch of pictures and designs, I fell in love with this one. I am usually not a big fan of gray but I just found this to be so sophisticated. Of course the chandelier doesn’t hurt, either. But really, this kitchen looks fabulous and the best part is that it is very unique and chances of you finding a similar kitchen are slim. There are other kinds of kitchen that are beautiful, but it looks like every home has the same exact kitchen. I like a little differentiation, which is why I highly recommend painting cabinets in this color.

I also found another interesting picture which I thought was totally original and kind of cute. Forget about the
regular kitchen island. Replace it with this adorable kitchen island/couch. I’m sure this will be a kitchen hard to match. The couch also has some cabinets at the bottom to store kitchen utensils. With this in your kitchen you will be able to cook with the company of your loved ones! No more getting bored cooking all by yourself in the kitchen. Or perhaps you can lie for a little bit while you are waiting for something in the oven. Either way, I think this couch/kitchen island is both functional and beautiful!
